The title of the book reflects my fascination with nature and science, and it is taken from the book’s second chapter.  Rainbows are mentioned several times throughout the Bible, but most notably in Genesis, where the rainbow is said to be a sign of God’s promise.  We know today that rainbows are the result of the prismatic interaction of sunlight and water.  Do these two forms of knowledge about rainbows, one scientific and one religious, negate one another?  Or are both “true” for what they are?  Can Christians accept the modern scientific explanation of how a rainbow works without ceasing to marvel at its splendor and without abrogating their faith?  This simple but instructive example is extended in the book to cover other instances where science and faith are incorrectly perceived as being incompatible.
